Our history

North Range Sod is based in Chelmsford, Ontario, and was founded by two dedicated Inco Agronomists employees, Tom Peters and Clair Young.

Since 1978 the farm has been family owned and operated by the Loiselle family, who provided the same quality products and services to all our Northern Ontario communities.

Today the farm has 200 acres of land to grow and harvest Kentucky Bluegrass sod, and has been known for delivering the highest quality product at a competitive price in Northern Ontario for over forty years — a trusted supplier for projects of every size.

Proud new owners of North Range Sod

Wilson Hope Ltd., a multi-faceted construction company based in Sudbury, Ontario, acquired North Range Sod Co. on 1 July 2023.

The acquisition marks a significant milestone for Wilson Hope: it provides a location for their headquarters and an opportunity to expand their portfolio. The team is committed to providing the same exceptional products and services to our Northern Ontario communities.

The farm keeps its 200 acres of Kentucky Bluegrass, and the synergies will grow its capacity to sell and harvest sod for years to come.

Green Certified

The Nursery Sod Growers Association provides Green Certification to growers such as North Range Sod, recognising successful completion of a third-party auditing program designed to identify companies that prioritise the highest standards of management and sustainability in the production of natural grass sod.

We recently had sod delivered , and I honestly can’t say enough good things about them. The grass is absolutely beautiful—thick, rich green, and so soft underfoot. You can tell it was grown with care. It instantly made our yard feel like a whole new space.
